https://www.nectar.com

Whether you are looking for florists, hairdressers, decorators, double glazing or hundreds of other businesses, we'll give you 50 points every time you call a Nectar affiliate advertiser.*

Collecting points is easy, just look out for ads that feature the Nectar logo from January 2007 and call on the number provided. You will be prompted to enter your Nectar account number using your telephone keypad, before being connected to the advertiser. We'll then award 50 Nectar points to your account, just for calling them. It's that simple!

*up to a maximum of 1000 points in a 12 month period. Second and subsequent calls to the same advertiser in a seven day period will not be eligible for points.

Hi, just wondering are the telephone numbers of the advertisers only posted offline (i.e billboards and such)? Partially sighted but would like to be able to use this if I can find numbers online.

Found a little bit more on it patwa & it sounds like it's literally numbers directly from the Thompson Directory you get delivered to your home.
50 points are available from Thomson Local when you telephone any advert in the directory that features a Nectar logo and dedicated telephone number. If you call the same advert more than once in a 7-day period you will only earn points on the first call. You must provide a valid Nectar card number to earn points. Points will only be issued on calls that are connected. You can earn a maximum of 1,000 points per year per collector. Your collection year starts when you make your first points earning call to a Nectar advert. Points are not available for searches on ThomsonLocal.com.

This seems really good deal, but I had a look for a number connected to nectar (adams) and nothing, maybe I'm looking at the wrong sort of numbers but if someone could let me know when they spot one that would be great, I use thomson local all the time (mainly for hubby as he always needs taxi's in different parts of the country)

Thanks for that, I don't use Thompson much but it might be worth digging it out, lol.

  • sounds good but how much would it cost per minute to call up the companies?

Any who have 0870 or 0845 numbers could be bypassed through saynoto0870.com

At the end of the day, it depends on what value the nectar points have. Being primarily an online buyer, I don't use Nectar much, so couldn't answer that - it would depend if 1000 points would be worth the time to make the calls, the odd 10p here and there for an 0870 or 0845 etc.

If you spend the points in shops such as Argos, Sainsburys etc 500 Nectar points are worth £2.50 but if you use them towards discounts, days out etc I think you can increase the value. Best to check out the Nectar web site first.

Ah well, thanks for that. Seems a very low conversion rate to me, I'm almost glad I forgot to register my card with talkTalk when I joined in June, doubt I could have gotten anything anyways, and I don't shop offline much as I said. Sometimes I wonder at people taking up all these loyalty schemes, and I wonder if they're not buying more than they have to just to get more points on the statement - which of course is exactly what's wanted by the scheme operators. Ah well, I'm happy with the only card that I have that's actually got a balance on it, I still have my Tesco Clubcard, last used it 5 years ago and it's got a princely 18 points credited to it - WOW!

Right, I really must get off these boards for at least a few minutes, gotta have lunch and I haven't eaten since early morning, very early morning. And people tell me I'm dangerously thin - oh well, what can I say?

I seem to build up most Nectar points by shopping on Amazon, taking elderly aunt out to lunch in Brewer's Fayre and sometimes in Debenhams. Think I'll stick to the massive points possible in Boots (see wonderful Boots thread on Grabbit board)
