HELLO WE BOUGHT A 2 BEDROOM BUNGALOW IN 1999 FOR 48000 AT THE TIME WE WERE IN BAND D FOR COUNCIL TAX, I DID RING UP TO THE COUNCIL TO COMPLAIN THAT WE WERE LIVING IN A LITTLE BUNGALOW & HOW COULD WE HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH ON C.TAX BUT THEY SAID THAT WAS THE BAND:mad:.ANYWAY SINCE THEN WE CARRYED ON PAYING C.TAX IN BAND D TILL JULY 2005 IN WHICH WE SOLD THE BUNGALOW TO MOVE TO A FOUR BEDROOMED HOUSE AND WE ARE STILL IN THE SAME BAND D
.HOW DOES THIS WORK AND CAN WE CLAIM BACK ON OUR BUNGALOW EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE SOLD IT AS IT WAS OUR MONEY IN THE FIRST PLACE AND I DO STILL THINK WE WERE OVER PAYING. THANKYOU TAKE CARE RAHARNEY!!!

Banding doesnt just work on the size of a property- a small property in a reasonably good area could be valued as band A and so could a large property in a reasonably bad area.
It all depends on what the property's where valued as and in many areas bungalows are expensively valued in comparison to houses.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
no you cannot appeal a house you no longer have 'an interest ' in
but if it is too high and gets reduced - the council will refund you0
