My ongoing credit clean up grrrr

I posted a while ago to say i had spoke to equifax and the post office re removing my default, and after my call to them where they said they had updated my file i emailed to them again to try and sort it.
Anyway, received a letter this morning, basically stating that they were not obliged to put it as settled and as the telephone call it had been changed in july with a 'P' for partially settled...which i would be quite appy with.
Anyway, i did write to the ico, and sent in the octber copy...which still has DEFAULTED in a red block, and also only red boxes...nothing with a P, no green boxes as with the other companies....i am confused as they are telling me it has been done...are they blatently lieing in the hope i just fgorget, or is there something i am not seeing?????
Also they state in their letter that they listened to the conversation and that the chap i spoke to wasnt lacking in courtesy (i think it did).
They have also gone on to sayif i still feel unhappy to regard this letter as a final response and if i wish to do so i can write to the FOS, but must do so within 6 months!!!!
So what now should i phone on monday and explain what i can see on my file, or leave it as i have already filed a complaint anyway????

Sorry for typo's cat was all over me and i couldnt see lol

Let me see if I've got this right. The October copy of your report still showed defaulted. You have since received a letter saying they will update your file.

It may take a few weeks for the files to be updated so I'd get another copy of your report in December and see if it has indeed been updated then before you take any further action.

Sorry if i have confused you, it was a telephone conversation i had with them on the 14th October, it was in that call that they told me they had changed the status on my account in JULY....so really it should have changed, also BEFORE i called the post office i had spoken to equifax, who told me they hadnt had permission to change anything...so i am a tad confused!!!!

Ah, I getcha now. I would press for something in writing from them confirming they have amended the records. If you get nowhere then the clean up thread has plenty of advice how to proceed.

Sorry I'm not of more help, haven't started my clean up yet. I got my files about 4/5 months into BR and everything was still showing defaulted from 5 1/2 years ago, in fact some will hopefully drop off before I start clean up in the new year - as long as my creditors don't decide to update because of BR. I'm ever hopeful.

Just follow the advice on the clean up thread using the sample letters given and I'm sure you will get there in the end.

Just to confirm what I said above though, I wouldn't believe them until you have it in writing.

Thanks, have done all the clean up stuff, just little niggles to iron out, anyway, rang equifax who confirm it was still showing as a D, so i rang post office who wrote to me telling me it had been changed to a P...they enquired, then rang me back to say they were emailing equifax today to get it put to a P, and that they had done it back in July but for some reason equifax hadnt changed it.
I am hoping as they say that within 48 hours it should changed....fingers crossed!!!!:D
