Greasy hair!!! Grrrrr Help Please!

I am getting sick and tired of my hair. I have a long graduated bob and my hair can get quite thick.

I washed my hair yesterday at about 3pm and blow dried it, this morning my roots are greasy!! Only on the underneath as top layers are ok at the moment and under my fringe.

I have tried numerous shampoos and I don't condition my roots (just the ends)

I am currently using Body Shop - Rainforest balance for oily scalps which made my hair lovely.

I make sure I get right into the roots with the shampoo and while rinsing, I was there a good 10minutes last night.

Somebody please help! I don't want to have to wash my hair every morning.

Have you ever tried dry shampoo in between washes? I wash my hair every other day, but occasionally find my fringe is a bit greasy on the second day, especially if I've used products or touched it a lot. I find dry shampoo a good send in those situations.

Try not using conditioner at all and whenever your roots look greasy use dry shampoo. Wash your hair no more than every other day and after a week or two you'll find your hair takes longer to get greasy and you can get away with conditioner on the ends.
Also try changing your shampoo to something very light and natural, something no frills no chemicals like a lush bar shampoo or burt's bees. They take more effort to lather but it will help.

I know this sounds crazy but sometimes it might not actually be greasy, it just seems greasy because you are used to seeing your hair really dry looking.

Not sure I agree with the part about taking longer to get greasy, well in my case anyway.

I have always had greasy hair that needs washing everyday so that the roots do not look greasy. I wash my hair every other day and use baptise dry shampoo on the in-between day. I have only ever used conditioner on the ends. No matter what I have tried my hair has always been greasy and I suspect it always will be. Thank god or baptise dry shampoo though!!!

If you have greasy hair, washing it at night and then sleeping in it will not help the situation. The best thing to do is wash in the morning. Dry Shampoo is a good suggestion but from what I've heard from hair dresser friends doesn't do your hair the world of good, so isn't a long term solution.

L'oreal do a good shampoo, it's a pink bottle and it's for "mid to long hair that gets greasy fast" I have quite greasy hair and have been using Aussi for the past few weeks, and it's allowing me to go a day between washes. I tend to wash my hair in the morning too, as if I do it at night and then go to bed, it's a greasy mess come the morning.

I have the same problem but can now go 2 or 3 days without washing my hair, I have been using this : https://phoenix.lush.co.uk/product/240/Jumping-Juniper-Shampoo-Bar and so far it seems to be working, although I am not overly keen on the lavender smell ( it does go down)

Lots of good tips there, thank you.

Ironically I did my first year of a hair dressing NVQ a while ago, funny how you forget simple things like washing in cool water if your client has a greasy scalp :(

Why is there a man in here :D
  • i would also suggest dry shampoo. what i normally do is wash my hair then on the next day i put it up. that only works if your hair is long obv lol
