Royal Mail

... or should I say 'Angard [STRIKE]stuffing[/STRIKE] staffing' ?

I've come on this forum to ascertain if I'm the only person to find them horribly incompetent and slow.

The story begins in May when I applied for a 12-month casual contract to work for Royal Mail. It seems that the casual thing works both ways as it took Angard stuffing a whole FOUR months to book me a document checking session.

It then took them a month to mail me a contract. (I shouldn't complain-at least it did not take another four months )

I promptly mailed the contract back and regularly contacted them to see if my application was problem free (yes it was probably annoying for them but I was desperate :( for this job ) I was assured that everything was hunky-dory and that I would be sent an ID through the post.

After a Month of phone calls I'm told that they never received my contract and that I would have to send another one; judging from their previous performance I'll probably start work in 2067 if they ever get this contract.

Does anyone else have a similar tale???

  • Angard are probably the worst, most incompetent agency on the planet. If you want regular work, be paid on time and correctly for work done, be phoned for work by a withheld number don't get involved with them. If like me your desperate for work and got signed over to them having worked as a casual under Royal Mail then had your contract terminated accept its money for Christmas (but 16% less than last years Christmas pay) then look elsewhere.

Forgive my ignorance here, i just want to ascertain the facts, was Angard created as a way to get round the new Agency rules?

well I would imagine RM wanted control to ensure they could avoid them.

Royal Mail already had a 12 week contract rule in place for casuals and at the end of each 12 week stint you had to take a two week break before a new contract was signed. Because Angard are "in house" the new rules don't apply and your on a 38 week contact but to be honest Angard are hopeless at giving any work out. Even now I am getting fed up seeing a race to get new casuals employed for Christmas whilst those of us already on Angards books are somehow ignored and already I have seen 2 weeks pass without a single shift.
Your just a body to them, Casual employees somehow count for nothing even with a years experience and a great and diligent work ethic, I am treated as a nothing....welcome to work 2011!
  • Thanks for the replies. I can honestly say that I share your pain.
It just beggars belief that in a time where there are so many, cutbacks, redundancies and competition, Angard staffing continues to exist.
