Ebay Help

Hi All,

I have been selling on ebay for ages. Just odd bits and bobs, clothes, shoes, bookes etc.

Just clearing out and making extra money. :D

But I am now having issues with ebay! People are giving me low feedback for my postage and ebay have 'warned' me to do better. The problem is that I am putting the postage costs at the bare minimum. On some occasions I am even losing money because I am charging less then it costs and not even taking into consideration the actualy packaging, that is just the posting!!!:mad::mad::mad::eek:

There is no point marking it as free postage because people can not leave feedback on P&P if it was free.

What can I do???!!!! I have a feeling the answer is nothing! ;p;

If you put free postage, they are obliged to give you five stars for postage.

If you give free postage then you are automatically given 5 stars. It's the easiest way for you to resolve your issue.

What are your other stars like? If buyers are not happy in general they may mark you down on all stars.

    :rotfl:Thanks Geri,

Whenever I have bought from a seller and the p&p has been free, that section is automatically 'greyed' out and I can not rate 5 stars.

So do ebay count this automatically as 5 stars?

If so then i may have to bight the bullet for a while and do that as I love ebay and love my clear outs!

I have never had a negative or a neutral. So it is a bit frustrating that people are not rating fairly.

I package all my items in pretty tissue paper and then a proper grey postage waterproof bag. So they can not complain there, and like I said, sometimes I lose money but people just don;t see it.

May as well charge a fortune and get the same feedback! lol.

All my other stars seem ok. Ebay havent 'warned' me about any of the others. But I randomly had an email from them today.

unless you are a business looking for repeat custom then this is really a waste of money. Nice touch but no-one will be expecting it so there's no real point.

Whatever you pay for postage just add it to the starting price of your item and offer free postage.

  • You can factor in the cost of p&p in your starting price - the downside to this is that you can not get the free 100 listings per month at 99p. Of course the plus side for Ebay in you offering free p&p is they get their 20% on the total selling price.

I wish all the people who are fed up with Ebay would migrate to Ebid. I have bought stuff from Ebay knowing what the p&p was, happy to get a nice item at a bargain price and would not dream of slyly trashing a sellers reputation by leaving low scores.

I don't think ebid welcome the idea that they only attract failed ebay sellers. I've had several shops (or stores as they love to call them ) on there for years- it's just a shame there are no buyers.

  • I've used ebid but didn't manage to sell anything. Also I couldn't find a free listing option with a photo for items starting at 99p or less like you get with ebay. My main gripe with ebay is that people keep buying things and then not paying for them. I have to open a case each time so that I don't get charged the seller fees.
    Don't mess with pensioners.
