Manchester - cheap but good hairdressers?

Can anyone recommend me a decent and decently priced ladies' hairdresser in Manchester? I moved here a couple of months ago but all I can see are pricey designer-type salons... all I want is a cut every few weeks.

Try SoNSo's in Swinton.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.
The Lord Giveth and the Government Taketh Away.
I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
Hair cuttery, its a big chain, walk in appointments, competative pricing and often vouchers given in store for repeat visits.
There is one on deansgate in city center0 -
Thanks for the suggestions, Swinton is a bit out of the way but I'll try Hair Cuttery.0

My boyfriend's mum goes to Tony and Guy to have her hair cut.
But she's a model so she only pays £8 to have it cut. Downside is, it takes 3 hours!!! But she is always happy with the result.
That's in/near Piccadilly Gardens I think. I know it's in town.
Personally, I just go to my old hairdressers when I travel back to see my mum 80 miles away!Money saved for Car Tax:

That Toni and Guy is an academy and it will be done by a student (ie not properly trained) although the final do is checked over by a qualified hairdresser.
Watch out as the other T&G will cost at least £35 for a haircut in town. I stopped going to my hairdresser at T&G as she is now over £50!
Hair and beauty services are quite expensive in Manchester. When I talk to friends in both Liverpool and Leeds they all seem to pay less than us. Toni and Guy are much cheaper in those cities than here.0 -
There is a hairdresser in the students union apparently. I haven't been there but my friend says it is pretty good and she always looks cool. It is in the basement of the Steve Biko building (main University of Manchester SU building) on Oxford Rd. You don't have to be a student.
P.S. Don't go to Supercuts in the Arndale. One of my housemates got his hair cut there and they did the worst job I have ever seen, really uneven with patches that were shorter at the back. He didn't even ask for anything complicated, just a short back and sides.0 -
Try the local colleges. I get mine coloured, cut and blow dry for £17!!Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:0

can't beat the college prices, but the styling room in fallowfield (but near princess parkway, not the main fallowfield strip) is £21 for a cut and blow dry.:happyhear0

that's where I went - needed a haircut without an appointment on monday for an interview - £4 for a dry cut. The best bit being no appointment so you cna just go whenever you like.0 -
