Is anyone else noticing the kind of deals in the supermarkets where it is actually cheaper to not go for the deal. For example, I've seen deals such as 2 for £2.00, when the item is only 99p when buying 1.

Crazy marketing trick, it must work though because they keep doing it. Either that or some of the staff can't count? :rotfl:
I've noticed one of the supermarkets is the worst for this.... the shop begins with a T!0 -
Many many times. In fact I saw a couple madly flinging the things in the trolley and I said to them have you noted the shelf price of one compared to buy 2 for £2 deal? Then they looked properly and looked at each other and dumped them all back on the shelf - was loaves of bread. They thanked me for worrying so much about them and walked off. I have often seen them since and the lady always smiles at me.0

Unbelievable! I wonder how these go through the till then? A 'normal' multi-buy deal lists the full single item prices and then at the end of the receipt shows the MB discount getting taken off...... surely they can't have the MB 'penalty' being added on??!!!If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0

I think there's a bit more to this and that you shouldn't actually end up paying more. Often multiple items with differing prices are part of these deals and where the total cost goes over the deal price it gets reduced, but where the total cost is lower you should only pay the lower price. Check your receipts at the till and see what happens.0

Sometimes supermarkets do deals with '3 for £3' on a certain brand - take Sharwoods Indian/Chinese range. Somethings could be 95p each and others like £1.60. So if you do buy 3 lots of 95p, you will be charged £1.85. If however you bought 2 lots of £1.60 and a 95p, you will be charged £3, saving £1.15.0
