    Hi OP,

Ours is looking to be around £10k. This is including the honeymoon but excluding the dress as my parents are buying this for me and cake as grandma is buying that. (also getting 1K from OHs parents)

    Approximately so far:

£3250 for venue includes: ceremony room, canapes and welcome drink, wedding breakfast for 60 people, evening reception for 100, DJ, first night room.

£375 for registrar (also need to factor in the cost of giving notice, I think about £30 each and marriage certificate)

    £800 for photographer

    £1000 for rings

£600 for hire of groom and attendants suits and for bridesmaid dresses

£500 approx for for hiring chair covers, making center pieces, stationary etc

    £250 for flowers

£2500 for honeymoon (which covers the all inclusive holiday but hoping to get money as gifts for spending!)

We're saving like crazy at the moment! So far have £4700 so we're getting there :)

You have just quoted most of my costings! I was having a wobble last night but feeling better today after going and looking at wedding rings. We are not borrowing money for our wedding and parents on both sides are helping....I just get a little overwhelmed adding up the numbers! As all above have said, as long as you have what you want, the way you want all will be fine.
  • I did a massive spreadsheet a few weeks ago of everything I would like a my wedding & it came in at £24,000 **gulp**

We booked the wedding about 4 weeks ago now & have to save the whole lot up ourselves so have had to be realistic in what we can out away each week/month. The wedding is in just under 10 months. I had budgeted for £12.000 but I think it's going to come in at £14.000

Like the original poster I only plan on doing this one & we want the day we want/plan in our heads we don't want to look back with regrets. I have been getting some good bargains with things & am having everything I want on my original list that came in at £24.000 for £14.000 or less. The only thing were not having is fireworks but I'm not so bothered about them now

So I have saved myself £10.000 already
    Getting married Sat 1st September.
Saving like mad for the next 40 weeks

Typical female logic - I'm not spending £14,000, I'm saving £10,000!!! Love it :rotfl:

We spent just under £7.5k in 2010, including mini-moon. Our 2011 honeymoon was paid for by Thomas Cook vouchers which we asked for if anyone wanted to buy us a gift.
  • My budget is 3.5k expluding honeymoon
  • I created a spreadsheet with estimates in for everything the original budget was £6.5k excluding honeymoon but at the moment its coming in at around £6k (and dropping) with my money saving :money:
  • Can't give any better advice than above - just keep a list, think about what YOU want and be savvy.

Our £8k wedding looked to a lot of people like we'd spent £15k - make good choices and yours will too. We splurged on things we really wanted (£1.5k photographer, £700 rings ) but kept things we weren't bothered about to a minimum (basic flowers, cheap centrepieces, vistaprint invites, not inviting every person you've ever met...)

You'll get lots of tips hanging around here - good luck!
    Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93
    Crazy Clothes Challenge # 103 - £84/£200 £30 Coat/£12 shirt/£23 jeans/£6 t-shirt/£13 2 x tops
Shoes £79/£100: Cowboy boots, canvas pumps, re-heal boots/ £25 safari shoes

Thank you...I am thinking the same way. Our photographer is ace and the rings and dress are quite special but the cake will be an M and S jobby! Seeing a florist on Wed so will see what kind of price they come up with.

We're doing the same... splurging on the important stuff (photographer, reception, band etc) and going cheap on the unimportant stuff (cake, cars, favours etc).

Funnily enough, my ring is probably going to cost just £200 (platinum 2mm band) and OH isn't having one... and I am horrified at the cost of dresses so may not end up spending that much on a dress either! :o Those were two things that I thought we would spend a fortune on.
