I have to say that I agree with a lot of what you have said. In about 2003 when prices started to rise a bit, we lived in a 3 bed terrace in a old but quiet and decent part of town, mainly young couples, some with families and very older people many who had lived there forever (mainly widowed women in their 80's/90/s) . As prices went up some of the young couples bought up the next level house and rented out as their mortgages were small.

Two particular houses right in the middle of the small street rented out to two single mums with a tribe of assorted kids...one pregnant with another. Various Boyfriends appeared on the scene, always arguing and falling out with the other various boyfriends. The kids were feral to the core, kicking cars, vandalising, breaking into peoples sheds and stealing, beating up and bullying neighbouring kids

Elderly women were threatened when collecting their pension less than 100 metres down the road by the PO.

The police were called regularly but failed to intervene until one night in one of the arguments one of the nutty boyfriends actually petrol bombed one of the girls cars .

I would say this all happened with in a space of 6 months from being a lovely little community to a pure living hell. And mainly because of two families in the middle of the street.

I had just bought my current house but it needed a huge amount of work so I was keeping both for the interim, but after that night, I left my old house (later rented out) and moved in to the new one and lived in one room for a year whilst it was renovated.

Some others sold up and moved but as the area went down hill others couldn't sell and more rented out, some just had to stay.

Once the rot sets in it spreads real quick.

    It certainly does spread fast.

My area was quite a nice area up until i reached about 7 or 8 years old, but like you said it changes fast.

A few scumbag families were moved in to replace the older residents who passed away and then thats it, game over the estate is ruined.

The scumbags now far outnumber the working man around here and the estate is now left to fend for itself. The police hardly ever come on here anymore unless its something they cant avoid dealing with like a house being petrol bombed or a drug dealer being beaten half to death, both these incidents never even made the local paper. (all kept quiet again)

The longer the government keep funding spongers to breed children, then the further and faster the rot will spread.

  • Yet more attempts - that won't work - to scare people into buying. These insane property prices must be propped up at all costs.

My story didnt end there, I rented the house to an older guy, who was a friends father. Every year he used to disappear to Thailand. He has a Thai wife (not a young bird but nearer his age) Anyway, last year he goes off, usually my fella would go round periodically and check up the house and I used to drive round every couple of weeks and visually check no probs. Fella hadn't been in the house for a couple of months as he had been working away and I hadn't noticed anything un-towards on my drive by!

One Saturday the police turned up at my home to tell me that the back patio had been open and the neighbour had reported it. I started to say oh that is strange, I will go round then they said they had gone into check if it was a burglary, the house has the stairs up the middle and as they walked past they noticed a 'smell'. So they investigated and found a 'dope farm' upstairs!

I nearly died! I received texts from a couple of friends to say 'did you know your house has been raided and the coppers have been taking out plants! When they let me go in after clearing what was now a crime scene the house was destroyed. Hydroponics leaking water into the walls ceilings pulled down , electricity had been wired...... etc etc

I emailed the tenant to ask...err have you something to tell me and he hadnt and was as shocked as me.

Turns out that one of the scum bags down the street knew it was vacant for a few weeks and just broke in and started their 'business! And had been in since the week the tenant went away but must had left the door open that particular day. It cost about £12k to get the work done... which i managed to get on insurance but it scared the c**p out of me. I cant help think what may have happened had I gone round one night to check and they had been in there
Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing' ;)

The farms are popping up everywhere nowadays, its been going on for years but has boomed in the last few years.

Hydroponic shops are also popping up everywhere around here so thats not going to help the matter any.

Rents across Britain will rise by more than 20% over the next five years from today's already record levels, estate agency Savills has forecast

Wow the OP quotes a forecast from an estate agency. Big deal. No VI there then

And conversely, when mortgage rationing ends, house prices will rocket

And when is this sensible lending going to end? Not for a very, very, very long time. So get used to it ;)

Some of the bull's posts seem to be unusually bitter at the moment. OK so house prices are down a bit year on year but you have to take the rough with the smooth. Mocking people who cannot afford a house is bad form. Take it easy guys.

Immigration has doubled under the coalition.
The population is set to increase by 430,000 per year just on immigration alone.
They have to live somewhere, but where is the question that nobody wants to discuss.
