Work from home, flexible hours - is it possible?

I've been checking this site for a while now and I just can't seem to find something that suits me. I'm 23, at university, so I have quite a lot of spare time - but very little money.

I suffer from long term depression and OCD so can't work a regular job as I can't hold down a proper timetable to work to (an hour might be the difference between not being able to leave the house from anxiety, etc).

Are there any online jobs that people have had a positive experience with? I'm not looking for massive amounts of money, just enough to give me a little disposable income while I'm at uni.

Thank you for any help.

  • If you hear of anything please let me know. I've been looking for this type of opportunity for years now and still not found something that suits me / makes enough money / etc. I've done some jobs which require hours of work for £1 so just not worth it... But if you hear about good options please share your knowledge!
  • Have you signed up with all the survey sites? I earn a bit doing those. I currently have around £45 in payments pending and in the last few weeks I've had £10 in Tesco vouchers and £20 in Asda vouchers, plus odd payments of £3 each for surveys. It's not a lot but it helps.
    Don't mess with pensioners.

There's a company called Arise which is a home based customer service provider. Might be worth a look? From what I remember you can work as little as 10 hours per week. It's a long time since I looked at this though so you might want to google it. I think there's quite a lengthy thread on this forum somewhere which will probably be helpful if this is something that interests you.

When I was a student I worked as a freelance translator and translated training courses for engineering firms. It was well paid project work that with reasonable deadlines.

You can make a little money writing articles. If you are OK on the phone as mentioned above then customer service is a way of earning money from home. There are other customer service jobs other than with Arise which some do not like. There are plenty of forums around on working from home.

I have been trying to get a full time income going from home for a few years now due to problems with me working out of the home. It's all about research, never paying for a job and good timing when the few good jobs there are become available.

Also, have a look at Optimum Contact, they do customer surveys and use a home based work force.

    There's a thread on this company here - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2739608
