Should I be suspicious about this interview?

On the 3rd Nov I applied for a job, 10 hours a week and received and email back to say they will be in contact to arrange an interview.

Today I have received a text asking me to attend an interview, they did not say who it was from but stated the company name which I was aware of. The text was badly put together with a use of pls and txt etc

I replied asking who would be interviewing and all they said is 'The md and my colleague' (collegue)

It all sounds rather dodgy and unprofessional, I have searched for the company but there isn't a lot of info about them but I know where they are based in Yarmouth and have seen the office.

What do I do?

Find a real phone number and give them a call and see if they are listed in the Yellow Pages or 118 118 etc and companies house?

They aren't in the Yellowpages all I can find is this...

    http://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(heart-business-solutions-ltd)_355073.htm

    http://www.192.com/atoz/business/norwich-nr13/facilities-management-services/heart-business-solutions-ltd/c06269429bb1df80f9c53063dc2505e7a77a6744/comp/

It just seems very unprofessional and a bit strange, and the texts weren't what I would call polite.

The interview is for Monday but hopefully I will have another lined up for then anyway so will go for the full time one if they call today.

    ACLE
    NORWICH
    NORFOLK
    ENGLAND
    NR13 3DY

Company was incorporated in August 2010.

Not sure if that is of any help.

  • Go along if you can and have nothing better to do but maybe have someone along with you (near, not in the interview with you!).

Take lots of notes, not just as you would in any other interview but just in case anything dodgy may come of it.

Thank you, I just don't like the way they did things. Ok so a company may text and I have had it done before (an agency I used text me to say good luck on my interviews and remind me of them) and it can be a good thing but these texts were poorly written and misspelled, the ones from the agency weren't formal but were came across polite, friendly and were well written.

He/she who text about the interview made me feel like asking such questions like who was interviewing me was a hinderence and they couldn't be bothered, it was like they were putting themselves out inviting me for an interview in the first place.

If it is a genuine company which I do think it is I'm not sure I like the sound of them.

I will go if I don't get an interview for the full time job, they are holding interviews for that job on Monday so will hear by the end of the day today. Fingers crossed please.

Just WHERE is the interview taking place? This can also be a giveaway. I have had 'interviews' held in hotel dining areas and even in someones car once. All pretty dodgy! Never again for me. You are right to research the company as should anyone going for an interview with any company.

In your boots, I'd find out where they wanted to hold the interview. If it's in a 'regular' business type / office / industrial estate environment, then I'd pop along to see them. It could very well be suspect. Then again....

They haven't told me, that is what I mean by unprofessional lol.

I know where the office is but it looks like they have more than 1 office, I'm not sure I want to work for a company that is so unprofessional and doesn't seem like they are very organised.

I have just had a phone call from the full time job and have an interview for 3pm Monday.

Exactly, but I now have a dilemma as written in my other post. :(
  • They haven't told you where the interview is to be held? Not sure how they think you can attend it then!

Any respectable company would send you an official email confirming the time, date and location of the interview. Sometimes they will include who you will be meeting with but at least who you should ask for and more often than not a copy of the JD.

may I ask where it was advertised?

Imatt - I would not have attended an interview in someone's car, an office or a place where there are lots of people around.

I have posted what I think you should do in the other post you have started, of course this is purely my opinion and it is up to you to make any decisions.
