What can I wrap this in?

Secret Santa at work.

We all spend £10.00 (and not a penny more :rotfl:) on whoever we pick out of the hat.

So I have purchased for my 'victim':

A mousemat with a photo of one of her steam engines (which took me all blooming afternoon to hunt off the internet :))

A mug with a photo of the invitation to William and Kate wedding and I've edited in her name - she is their biggest fan and even sent them an engagement and wedding card!

2 x small recipe books for camping/motorhomes (they have a motorhome which they use every weekend whilst at the steam fairs with their engines)

Now the problem I have is both the mousemat and mug were free (from vistaprint) but I paid £3 for the postage (they could have cost over £20). The recipe books I won in a raffle (god I'm sounding a right tight person here) but I haven't opened them and they are still in celophane wrap.

We all write what we would 'like' if people get stuck and she put Nivea products. So as i have £7 left I will get her a nivea item.

But how do I wrap it all? I thought of a gift basket and celophane wrap to make a hamper, but I don't have a basket and not sure the £7 will stretch to nivea and a basket.

Could I wrap a shoe box and fill with shredded paper and use that?

Last year I did a hamper for the guy I got, but I had one in the house so it didn't come out of the £10.

Any ideas?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

what about a felt stocking from wilkos/poundland and wrap each gift separately and pop it in? I always think of hampers as having a theme whereas stocking are a collection of different things that the recipient will like if you know what I mean.

  • Homebargains have some lovely stockings in at £1.49, they are really nice. Try there for your nevea products too, they tend to have gift sets in around this time for a good price.

  • Also think the idea of a stocking is a great one, but what about a fleece travel blanket and make "santas sack" out of it! Tied up with string or pretty ribbon. Then she can use it in her motor home as well as being useful gift wrap.

By the way you have put so much thought into this.:)

    oooo I'm loving that idea!

I love making up present hamper things for people. Especially when you can start so early and get things at a bargain (like vistaprint was all free and I could use the ultra cheep 21 day delivery :T)

I start to feel bad at times though due to the 'cheapness of some presents' like this work one, if I'd bought the mug it was £12.00 so I shouldn't feel bad I was able to get it free, but I think 'what if she knows'....

I was out with my friend yesterday, I'm currently off work with a tumor on my foot and so she pushed me for 8 hours all round York (very bumpy) in my wheelchair. For Christmas I've got her a few things but her main present is a picture she took in Ethiopia, I hunted it off her Facebook page (:rotfl:) and I've photo edited it - it's of a waterfall and I've made it so the water is all soft focus, if you know what I mean, blown it up to 1 metre in size and am looking for a frame for it. But againit was free off vistaprint (blown up on to vinyl, not canvas) and yesterday I was thinking - how cheap am i! But OH was saying how she will love it and most likely cry at the thought I even did it, but I can't help thinking I'd feel better if I paid £40 for it to be blown up. How mad am I!
