Hi all I'd like a bit of advice if you can please.
Recently my hubby got a job as a contractor out in Afghanistan - the idea being he will earn a small fortune and get us out of debt.
The problem started when his payday changed so we had to survive for a month and a half on virtually nothing so we got a payday loan out with the idea of it being paid off today (his next payday). Due to some errors on his employers behalf he wasn't paid and it looks like its going to take a few days to sort out.
My problem is obviously that I can't pay back the payday loan and the mortgage and another loan payment is due tomorrow. We have no money in the mean time. I was looking at getting another pay day loan but all it would do is cover the last loan and I'd still be stuck with not being able to pay any other bills. The mortgage etc is all in my hubbys name so I can't talk to the bank about it.
Should I get another payday loan? Or should I just ignore it until he actually gets paid. And what will happen about the mortgage payments etc? We've never missed any payments before but I'm petrified of this getting any worse.
Some advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks.

Hi
Has he any idea as to when he will be paid, and how soon the money will hit your bank account? I'd contact the mortgage company and loan company and explain the new job and the delay in salary and say you will be able to pay in a weeks time (if the money will be with you then). As the payments are due to go out tomorrow its probably too late for them to cancel them and they'll probably still try to take them out so you might well incur charges for bounced DDs.
Have you checked the bank account today? do you have online access to it? has the payday loan company cleared out whatever was in there? was today the due date?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi Tixy,
Thanks for your reply.
We're hoping it should go in either tomorrow or Saturday - obviously if it goes in tomorrow then there will be no problem. I've checked online banking and we've got zilch! They've already tried to take the pay day loan out which is how I was alerted to the fact that hubby wasn't paid as they emailed him.
Will the mortgage company deal with me? All our finances are under his name as we were trying to keep our finances separate due to my lousy credit rating. He can't do much from Afghanistan unfortunately.0 -
aww hun payday loans are the worst, im sorry i cant offer any advice like you im in debt with one and because of them i cannot get credit anywhere, have you tried ringing them to set up a payment plan for every month till its paid? dont leave yourself short as in the end you need to live and feed yourselves x0

I would try speaking to the mortgage company - they may say that they cannot tell you anything about the account - but you could try just asking them to at least put a note of your call about the situation and explain that he is abroad. Worth a try I'd think.
Fingers crossed it goes in tomorrow.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks guys. Have managed to speak to mortgage and loan people and, although they can't tell me anything account specific, they will try again in 14 days and probably charge £35 for the missed payment. As for the payday loan there's not a lot I can do I think. I'm just hoping I can afford all these missed payment fees when he finally gets paid!0
