Sometimes I prefer to sell on ebay as the money I make goes to buy another stuff.. it's never a lot of money so it works more like "swapping" for me sometimes!

If I don't wear it often or slightly big/small but it's "classic" and good quality I vacuum bag it as my weight does fluctuate and I might fancy wearing it at some point.
If I don't wear it often/doesn't fit but still fashionable and in good nick then it goes on ebay.
If it won't fetch much on ebay for whatever reason it goes to a charity shop.

I keep wardrobe clothes that I wear at least once a month in my wardrobe(most worn goes on one side), stuff I rarely wear or is out of season gets vacuum bagged. Out of season draw clothes get vacuum bagged but everything else goes in a heirarchy- the more often I wear it the higher up draw it goes in. This is just for getting ready quickly, as I know I can pull out virtually anything from the top drawer and the most worn side and it will be fine. I also keep out three pairs of shoes(uggs, smart, casual) at all times so they'e accessible in a hurry.
Things like lounge clothes and gym kit are hung on the back on my door.

Phew, but yeah. Keep things you wear most easily accessible and the things you never find yourself rummaging for should probably be disposed of.

  • I like the idea of taking a photo of something you keep for sentimental reasons . DH has a shirt we bought in Paris in 1979 and refuses to throw it out ! I do donate to charity shop things that are still fine, but feel they don't look right on me anymore . Eg dresses with A line skirt , still good but not worn for ages . I bought a leather jacket from CS , very nice , but someone didn't want it anymore so maybe someone will like what I don't like anymore.

You're weird to keep clothes you never wear. If I have clothes I don't/can't wear anymore they either go on ebay or to the charity shop...

Do the vacuum bags take up much less space once they are full?

I am currently going through all my clothes after losing two stone in weight. I realised last week when trying on some items in a clothes shop that the things I am wearing are all stupidly big for me and look ridiculous so I am seperating into a few piles - keep, Ebay, charity shop, clothing bank. This time I am being extra ruthless and anything that looks tatty is out!

I am buying a few key pieces to tide me over as I am going to carry on with my new eating plan as I would like to lose at least another stone or two. The items I am selling on Ebay are funding my new purchases as it is almost like swapping old for new (well new to me) as Alisha said before it is a good way of updating your wardrobe without spending too much money.

I've been putting away money so that when I get to target weight I can completely revamp the whole of my wardrobe. My intention is to go for a personal shopping appointment so I can get some advice on which styles I should be going for and then I can bear that in mind when building my wardrobe back up again :)
