effect on pension when working overseas?

Im off to Texas for 3 years with my work :j my wife will be leaving her part time employment to join me and is looking forward to the holiday:rolleyes:

I will continue to be employed by a UK organisation with PAYE/NI etc

What effect would this have on her state pension, her right to access NHS services or other potential benefits on our return? Am I right i thinking she could make some payments even if not earning to continue her current rights?

any guidance very gratefully received

She could pay voluntary contributions which are cheap - but as the rules are changing so frequently I would wait until after you return and then enquire about paying backdated to see if they are then worthwhile.

I doubt either of you would be entitled to use the NHS services without payment while away. You'll need to check your employers medical insurance plan to see what this covers or if you can increase contributions to provide coverage outside of the US.
