Well, final judging isn't til next month but yeaterday my 9yr old discovered she has got into the final 16 of a UK competition called pound a poem and won £100 worth of books for her school library.
Last year she was slightly behind in reading and her writing & spelling was pretty dire so I'm really proud for her.
She's really happy about it and though she would love to win (so would I as it would give us a family holiday, first in years), she's decided that it would just be an extra bonus and making orange jelly last night was just as exciting

Will come back onto the post in Feb to update.
It was organised by Pears Soap I think to raise money for Cancer Research UK with £1 entry fee for each poem. It's good to see the number of constructive charity-based competitions coming through the schools these last few years.
Never to young to learn what a difference a bit of your pocket money can make to someone in need (and how fortunate we are compared to so many others)
