How much do you fill your bin?

We are a household of 3 to 4 (one son at college) and a cat. Our council collect 'normal' (i.e. all non recyclable, but not food) rubbish every fortnight. We don't have a wheelie bin, just a normal sized bin (like the bin Top Cat lived in - showing my age now!). It's rarely full in a fortnight. We have paper and card recycling collected weekly, and the bottles/glass/plastics/foil bins are emptied fortnightly on alternate weeks with the normal rubbish. Food waste has a special locking bin and is collected weekly. The bottles/glass/plastics bins are always full after a fortnight.
Batteries (although we are switching over to rechargeables) I have to take to the library - 5 minutes walk away.Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

2 in our house, today there are 5 black bin liners outside, but that's because OH didn't put the bins out for two weeks. We don't recycle anything (OH has done repair work at the local place our rubbish goes to and none of it actually gets recycled!! )Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

As this has dropped down the OS board and it isn't Old style related, ive moved this to the green and ethical board

Our bins are back to front...
Large bin for land fill and two tiny boxes for recycling.
Large bin less than half full whereas the recycling ones constantly overflow so mice etc. get in them and pull things out...:doh:0 -
I have a 70 litre bin in my kitchen and the black bag from that gets pulled straight out and left out for the bin men. I fill 2 black bags a week, at a push 3.
We have a weekly collection (Wednesday) of general waste (black bags).
We have recycling boxes for paper/cardboard and plastic/tins and these are emptied every 2 weeks, it alternates with garden rubbish (green bags).
Our recycling boxes are only small, the paper one is fine as it doesn't get filled too much, but the bottles one is always overflowing by the end of the 2 weeks.
Talking about bin liners, the one week when I did a online shop with Mr T's, I ordered some 80 litre bin bags to fit in my bin, they substituted them with 60 litre ones, the driver looked a bit miffed at me when I handed them back and told him they wouldn't be any good for my 70 litre size bin! The council do provide us with one roll each of black and green bin bags every few weeks, but the black ones always run out way before we get the next lot!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -
Two in our house. Our standard size wheelie bin is collected very two weeks and it's rarely more than a third full, if that. All the plastic, bottles and paper go in their respective tubs. They are collected every week but we usually only put them out once a fortnight. I have considered putting the paper recycling tub out by the front door so that the postman can put all the junk mail straight into it.
