Let's hope they can turn it round. I wonder what OpCapita see in it

OpCapita's board includes ex CEO of Halfords (and Director of Dixons) along with former CEO of Budgens/Somerfield.

    So some impressive retail experience.

IMO the reason these store have lost customers are:-

Poor product knowledge and understanding of customer need.

Poor after sales service and repeatedly trying to duck their responsibilities. People might as well take the risk of an online transaction or pay the same price or bit more going to John Lewis or local. Most supermarkets have much better after sales and free extended guarantees.

Pricing is often not competitive although Dixons online do do some good deals from time to time. Online pricing and price matching

More interest in selling finance/service plans.

    Massive online competition.

The first two failures are not new they have been in place for decades IME.

I did have need to complain on behalf of a relative recently and I did meet one store represenative who did his utmost to, and eventually did, resolve our problem. He was totally frustrated along the way, by his own people, in doing so.

I understood the pension responsibilities were staying with Kesa, presumably with the assets underpinning them.

In separating the two, do Kesa shake off the Albatross, to enable them to borrow and trade more easily in their remaining interests?
