Training costs - Getting help with ?

Hi
My son is currently unemployed and is hoping to do a forklift operators training course. It is £264.
I've been searching the net, and asking around trying to find out if there are any grants available to pay for this ?
It seems very hard to find out thou. The job centre haven't been any use, and a link worker he has spoken to and is meant to be helping, but nothing has come of it.
Any ideas of who to speak to, would be great.
The bank of mum and dad is rapidly emptying
TIA

I'd suggest his best bet is to either get whatever job he can and save, or go for a warehouse/builders merchants job where use of a forklift truck is necessary but he can get the training "on the job", i.e. free! Or maybe apply for an apprenticeship with a building firm?DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Depending on where you are in the world, there are what used to be called Pre Employment Training (PET)s, now called Sector Based Work Academies (SBWA)s. These are themed across various industries, one of them includes a Fork Lift licence. Speak to the advisor about getting on the programme if there is one locally.0
