Please open up two web pages and then go to Dells website in both of them and click on notebooks and then choose the entertainment notebook for £439again in both of them.
On your first web page click on the Customise & Buy for the £538 notebook and on the second web page do the same for the £639 notebook.
Enter the specs as i've listed below for both and you'll find that one will give you a price of £686 and the other £773.47 for exactly the same machine including Vat and Delivery!
Remember you Must configure then exactly the same as i've listed below so you'll have to make some changes as you go through.
I've already said in other posts that i didn't think its worth buying a PC/Notebook til after Vista is launched next week but for anyone who really wants one now then this might be the one for you although can you trust Dell now after this!

That's not unsurprising, it's the way Dell operate with all their systems - desktops and laptops. The cheaper the option (value-code) in a range the more expensive it will be to upgrade that relative to other more expensive and better-equiped options further up the range. In addition, not all available options (value-codes) are actually shown on the main site pages - here's a site which shows all available options at any given point in time as the Dell deals change weekly http://www.dmxdimension.com/blogcategory/dell_uk_inspiron_6400.html. I can see a few options in there just now which are possibly a better deal than the one you have quoted above.0

I went to that site and through them i configured almost the same machine with the only differences being the memory was 533 instead of 667 (and no option to make it 667), the hard drive 120GB instead of 80GB and the price was £656.82 so saving even more.
I then configured a machine that has a 2GHz processer (4MB L2 cache instead of 2), 120GB hard drive and 2048MB of ram (667 type) for £836.13 so thats only £62.66 more than the other more expensive machine i refered to in my first post and you get so much more.
I think Dell works in a way that if you are not bothered about getting a good deal and and you have cash to burn then so be it.Always looking for a bargain and to help0
