Those are car apps. There are also free satnav apps for cyclists. They avoid hills (well, sometimes) and always try to route away from busy roads.
The Bike Hub app is free and works on iPhones and Androids. Bike Hub is the UK cycle trade's levy fund and pays for the app and things like Bike Week and Bike It sessions for children from Sustrans. The app can be found on iTunes and in the Android Marketplace or via BikeHub.co.uk
The app is UK-specific. I use it all the time when I visit London, perfect for use with Borisbikes.0 -
I see some cheap sat navs on eBay with maps of the UK and USA at around £35. seems a no brainer if your going to the USA, renting one from your rental company will most likely cost more than £35 and you can use it as a spare back home.
just search ebay gps uk usa and set "price lowest first"0 -
TomTom Start 20 EU for £84 inc. P&P.
I did some research and decided I wanted a TomTom, but didn't really want to shell out the full price; After a bit of searching I realised I'd have to compromise on a used or refurbished one; Watching a few on eBay, even the used ones (I was looking at a Start 20 UK/RoI) are regularly making £55-£60 or even occasionally £70+ for those claiming to be "brand new" or "only used a couple of times".
Then I spotted the "Argos outlet" on eBay, they have a "Refurbished" Start 20 UK for £79.99 with 12-month warranty, so I plumped for one of those, ordered on a Thursday night it arrived Monday morning, in perfectly new condition but with a slightly dented box. The best part was, the one they actually shipped me was a Start 20 EU with full European maps. Very satisfied, thank you Argos!0 -
Whilst the old version of the was absolutely brilliant, they have brought out an update and it's RUBBISH. Took 3 attempts and over an hour to load and it can't even find my home city. If you have the old version DO NOT UPDATE.0
