FTB Mortgage Free?

I wanted to start a discussion for first time buyers who aim to get rid of their mortgage as fast as possible. I'm a young early 20s FTB myself, 18 months ago put down 15% on a place just under the 250 stamp duty threshold. Paid off £10k so far including £4,000 overpayments. I would like to have this place paid off by 30 - ambitious, but why not?
