Virgin media job

I applied for a job with VM for a field access technician. I applied for this job before and they ask such questions as safe use of power tools and ladders. I think this is where I failed last time. I done research and waited 6 months and applied again.

I understand the following with ladders:

Place on a even surface
Make sure the bracket is locked
Use both hands to climb
Make sure the ladder has none slip feet
Only climb as high as the ladder is designed for
Only one person on a ladder
Follow the safety and warnings on the side of the ladder

And from a drill side of things:

Use eye protection
Do a risk assessment
Check its been PAT tested
Check the drill is clean (No rust)
Check the cord (No breaks)
Check what material I am drilling into
Use ear protectors
Never use in wet conditions

Is there anything else I am forgetting or any advice anyone can give?

Use suitable footwear when using the ladder,
  • Aren't you supposed to stop at about the third or fourth rung down from the top of a ladder, so you aren't standing right on the very end of it with nothing to hold on to?

It's mad when you have to pass an exam in ladders to get a job!

Got through the first stage. Now got a 20 minute interview tomorrow after work at 7pm. Got to research products Virgin offer and how I have helped out people in the past at my work.
  • Well Done,

    how did it go?

  • An anecdote; I got a rollocking when trying to move a small pallet load of stuff out of my way with a pump truck when I was at the warehouse we collect our work from a few weeks ago - I'd not had the training to use it!

Unfortunately as we all know it's all due to the blame/claim culture why everything anyone uses in the workplace has to have a certificate to use/work with something.

Congratulations anyway, are you going through a recruitment firm like the Map Group, I didn't realise you could go direct through Virginmedia anymore.
