Is the Energy Savings Trust Fit for Purpose?

Over recent months the Energy Savings Trust (EST) have:
  • Changed their minds on how much money can be saved on the average electricity bills by installing Solar PV
  • Accidentally published the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) changes prior to the Government's official announcement
  • Continually used over inflated system installation costs when calculating estimated payback periods
For example, if you look on their web site today they are still suggesting that the 'average' 2.9 kWp system has a hefty £11,500 installation price tag whereas in reality you can now get a much larger system installed for under £10k.

If the EST cannot adapt to the rapidly changing Solar PV market, and alter their consumer advice accordingly, then in my opinion they are no longer fit for purpose.
