Debt Free Wannabe - Sad Times Gone - Prospects on the Horizon

Dear All,
Firstly id like to say thanks for the great information available on these boards. While i consider my debts to be merely average, i was running a single income household and last year it all got a bit too much for me.

I had become very depressed, constantly struggled with money every single month, and couldnt afford to even feed myself. Suicide had started creeping into my mind, and it was at that point i knew i needed to do something and sooner rather than later.

I had lived in my flat for about 3 years, and decided that the time was right for me to sell, wipe the slate clean and start over. With no financial backing from other family members, i knew that in order to clear my debts, relieve my stress and enjoy my life again this had to be done. It does break my heart, especially knowing how hard it will be to get back on the property ladder.

In March 2006 i placed the flat on the market, and in June 2006 i moved back in with parents, as all my cards had become maxed out (i was having to withdraw cash on cards, to get enough cash to pay them back off - yes, it really was that bad, as im not a high earner).

Just this last week i have had an asking price offer made on the flat, some 10 months after placing it on the market. I cant say its been an easy 10 months, with so much hassle for not renting it out in the meantime (but renting means it has to go off the market, prolinging my debts) from my parents, concerned that im not doing anything to help myself.

In 8 months, i intend to be totally debt free, as there is not quite enough collateral in the flat to be able to clear them in one go.

Fortunately, towards the end of last year i have met a great girl and within the next 12 months we hope to find a place of our own together. This might be rented or if we can afford it another mortgage might be an option.

So for now, i just wanted to get all that off my chest and with fingers crossed let out a sigh of relief that good times are ahead. I just pray that contracts can be signed pretty fast on my flat sale.

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
