Income tax +NI refund

Hi,

I recently got a tax rebate through for year 06/07. So I thought I would look at the other years and to my surprise I think they have miscalculated my income for the tax year 08/09. They have me down as earning 9k rather than 7k for that year.

My question is do I use this link

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/overpaid-thro-job.htm or this link

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/sa/correct-repay.htm

They are both very similar. I still have all my payslips for that year as proof. Also does anyone know how long the rebate will take?

Furthermore, whilst I was a student and doing part time work, I made some NI contributions. Am I better off leaving them as non complete years towards my state pension or can I get a refund back? Should I have even paid NI as a student as some months I did not make any contributions?

The latter link relates to (correction of) Self Assessment returns ........ I doubt you make such returns otherwise they would have normally picked up the PAYE overpayments?

If you've had a refund (P800?) that's wrong, then you just query it directly with them. But you really need to try and look out a P60 figure as the P800 should be have the value from the P14 data submitted by the employer.

NI ..... is not cumulative and is paid depending on your earning in the pay period against the NI threshod applying that year. Not refundable by virtue of your being a student - sorry.
