I learnt so much on this site ... its amazing. I rarely do anything that involves 'spending money' without checking on this site or the relevant forum for advice. Examples :
Car insurance, credit card, growing vegetables, ebay, recipes etc etc. Thanks to everyone whose advice helped me so much.0 -
I have read through many of the other replies nodding in agreement. My year has been dominated by three emergency admissions into hospital. How useful it would have been to have an emergency packing list to hand, together with a packed bag. This has now been implemented!!0

I have been through a lot this past year, whether that was coping with the death of my father and finding the courage to leave my abusive OH, who I have now successfully divorced after 15 years of marriage getting absolutely nothing!
Most of all it is important for everyone to remember that life still goes on whether you do something or nothing:) Your life truely is what you chose to make of it and it is never to late to change it!
I am much happier now, and everything in my home is paid for (might be second hand but it is mine) and I am lucky enough to have no debt in these economic times!
I am now preparing to go to Uni next year and look forward to the future.
My only disappointment had been my inability to learn how to knit! Something I have always wanted to do,however being left handed certainly does not help when my right handed friends try to show me.
Happy 2012 everyone.........:)0 -

What an inspirational post newstart - i am sorry for your loss (father) i am still struggling to come to terms with losing my mum nearly 2 years ago, but what you said about life going on has really struck a chord with me - and would be something my mum would have said.
Best of luck to you - and thanks.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
They tell me, you learn from your mistakes and i keep saying i'll never do that again.
But the only thing i've learnt is i'm still as soft as ever and get taken-for-a-ride all to often.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Storecard balance -[STRIKE] £786.60[/STRIKE] £7080 -
I learned that the BEST mash can be made by using the food mixer....AND the two whisk-y bits are easier to fit into the dishywashy than the awkward and useless spud masher0

That you can never tidy "clutter". Less stuff is the ONLY route to a tidy home. I can't belive how much crap I've accumulated over the years. Flylady does work.
That services in this country for kids with disabilities are sadly lacking, and that it's only those kids whose parents kick up the biggest fuss stand a chance of perhaps getting some of the help they need. Bottom line is noone really cares. This was a very hard learned lesson as I'd been raised to "trust the professionals".
That grout for retiling a bathroom costs a blinking fortune!
That all the useful hints and tips/skills I've picked up along the way for saving cash really do count when your back is up against the wall.0
