Berlusconi going, going, gone?

Per Reuters:

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has told President Giorgio Napolitano that he will resign after the new budget law currently making its way through parliament is approved, the head of state's office said in a statement on Tuesday.

    Despite the appearances Berlusconi is still quite popular in Italy, I wouldn't put it past him to win a new election. :D

    It would not surprise me if Berlusconi acquires some kind of prosecution immunity and resurrects himself as an X-factor judge.

    Do you think it can be saved?

    Neither Sarkozy or Merkel look likely to win their next elections, but just removing them won't solve the underlying problems of the Euro.

    No I wouldn't be at all surprise at him standing again for election and winning.

    Europe requires fresh blood to effect the necessary change.

    Seems as if the Chinese will extract a high price for any support. As Euro doesn't appear to have the financial firepower to resolve the problems internally.
