My 14 year old daughter is on about wanting these, she brought a brochure home from a shop, where the lady 'popped one in her eye' and it 'looked so easy'.
Has anyone had any experience of using coloured contact lenses, purely for fashion reasons?
I have to say, I wouldn't mind trying them myself!
£20 from the high street, around £12.99 on amazon (3 months)

Contact lenses can only legally be sold under the supervision of an optician, dispensing optician or doctor. This is because they need to be fitted, taught how to use and care for them and checked on a regular basis.
I do like coloured lenses, I wear prescription ones myself however you need to consider eye health, especially with a 14 year old. If you were to buy some, it should not be on the internet and should be from your optician.
EDIT: yes they are easy to use when you know how

I have blue eyes and had brown contacts once. I loved them my eyes looked so big!
However when my pupil was small in bright light there was a blue halo around the black which looked really odd.0 -

these are being sold in a tanning shop in town, didn't realise it was illegal!0 -
They can cause a huge amount of damage to your eyes...I'd really consider it!
I'm a hypocrite because I wear contact lenses, but for vision reasons. They can easily scar your eyes and increase eye infections, and that's if you are using them properly. Hygiene is hugely important, every single day, and it's easy to claw yourself in the eye! You also need spares, in case one flicks out (cuz you either can't see, or you'd have different colored eyes).
I got some from my optician, the proper professional ones, but they still weren't happy and said your eyes aren't something to mess around with. It's true...I try to wear my glasses a few days a week now, and I'm building it up. When it all starts going wrong it goes downhill fast!
Mesmereyez have some pretty dodgy reviews, too. Although I'm not sure if they can be posted here because some of the responses aren't very child-friendly!0 -
I wouldn't do it. Even with a prescription I don't believe lenses can be sold to under 16s online. They're not safe to be dispensed without professional supervision.0
