Went to see 50/50 last night. It's a really good film - I highly recommend it. It literally made me laugh and cry. I really related to it, even though cancer is a whole different thing to cystic fibrosis.
I tried to explain it to my OH, but I see cancer as being quite a concentrated, relatively short disease whereas CF is more stretched out over a lifetime. But I think anyone with a serious illness can relate to each other, no matter what they have. Things like the fed up with feeling ill part, the isolation that you sometimes feel and the hating hospitals are all common themes with illnesses. I guess what I'm trying to say is illnesses suck - big time!!
There was a line in the movie that said 'You can't change your situation. The only thing that you can change is how you choose to deal with it'. I love that quote. So I'm going to live by it.
I can't change the fact that I have CF, but here's how I choose to deal with it:
I choose to do everything that I possibly can to cheat death and prolong my life.
I choose to spend time with my family and friends.
I choose to treat myself if I want to (within my means though obviously).
I choose not to work myself into the ground, but do enough to get by and live a good life.
I choose not to ignore my debts, but not rush to pay them off anymore. So, it might take me 10-20 years to clear my debts. My health is more important.
I guess this leaves my 1,000 day plan up the creek. Not sure whether to start a new diary or not. Money-wise, my plan is to do 100 questions a day (easy and gives me enough time to myself every day too). This equals £900 a month which will pay all of my bills, rent and tax. Then I have got my Disability Living Allowance which is £73.60 a week and I can withdraw this from the bank weekly and use it for petrol, food and other stuff I need. Then I have the £400 that my OH gives me every month for his share of the rent and bills. This can go towards catching up on some bills, paying back my mum and eventually paying back my debts.
Off to think some more.

So so happy to read that post xx
Thanks Lou :A. And I know I have said this kind of thing before, but watching that movie last night might have been the best thing that ever happened to me. I know it sounds silly and it's only a movie, but I feel like a completely different person today after watching it.
