  • Exactly.

Well done to him for getting himself a job in this tough job climate
He was only guessing it was a school leaver.

    Hi all,
I was looking to consolidate all of my debts (£20K ish) and decided to go for a Tesco loan.
I filled in all the details online stating my outgoings and giving the reason for the loan as "To consolidate all of my outgoings"

At the end my application was refused due to too may outgoings!

I called Tesco and the guy on the phone (recent school-leaver?) told me that I would be sent a letter shortly to explain what i already knew, and that I would need to follow the "appeals procedure"

Does anyone know if a) this will show up on my credit score, b) if the appeals process is worthwhile and c) any suggestions of what I can do next??

    Thanks in advance

    I can answer c.

Pay as much as you can towards your existing borrowings, and until they are completely paid off dont borrow a further penny.

If he's a school leaver working for Tesco Bank he's doing pretty well as they are a pretty good company to work for from what I hear.

He will probably get accepted for loans too ;)

Thank you very much to all of those offering constructive assitance.

For those offering "other" comments else im certainly not bitter or cynical!
What have i got to be bitter about?

The lad i spoke to at Tesco was constantly asking for assistance from someone else (hence the school leaver comment) but we had a very friendly conversation. All in all he was very helpful and I thanked him very much for his help!

I certainly wanst rude! Where did you get that idea from??

My comment was 'tongue in cheek' and im really surprised at the reaction that it got!

@_Andy_ - very uncalled for! I was asking for help, not abuse. If you dont like what I said then fair enough but there was no need for that!
  • It didn't appear very tongue in cheek and since it had no relevance to the situation we can only assume you were trying to imply something between you not getting a loan and the person being a school leaver.

Anyway, it's been said, unless you have an income approaching 6 figures forget it, since you debt liability could be £40k.

    Thanks Somethingcorporate

The application was all done online so there is no way the lad I spoke to could have anything to do with the actual application.
Like I said, it was all very friendly and he was very helpful - just somewhat under-informed.
I wasnt rude to anyone and I dont think the rude rection I have received from some was justified.

Anyway, thank you for your help with my situation, and I will be more careful what i write in the future.

Edited my first post to more acceptable (hopefully) wording
  • No problem - it's one of the downsides of open and unstructured forums. If you post info we'll assume you posted it for a reason and it has something to do with the situation you find yourself in.

Unfortunately humor and sarcasm do not translate well into the online realm!

Indeed it would seem - as in text messaging, which I have found out the hard way on more than one occassion!

I will try the DFW forum as the first replier (thanks 'rising from the ashes') suggested and go from there.

    Thanks again
