Wedding Gift Lists

Am looking into making a Wedding Gift list after many requests from Work collegues, family etc asking what they can get us as a present.

I thought I would use one of the big department stores and put things on like towels and a dinner set so people could spend as little or as much as they would like.

Just wondering who has used who and what they thought of the service they got?

At the moment i'm looking at D and JL

  • I set ours up with John Lewis. They were really helpful in store and we went round with a little zapper thing. They recommended just zapping loads of things then amending items or quantities from home online as there are so many decisions to be made. As far as I know (we get married on Friday), everyone has found the list fine. We started with smaller things then most things being £25-£50 then a few things that were more expensive. JL should contact me after the wedding to arrange delivery of it all in one go.

We used John Lewis and they were fabulous! I have to say, receiving our delivery with all our pressies in was one of the most exciting things ever!! Me and OH sat together and ripped all that packaging to shreds in fits of giggles, it was fabulous.

Can't fault their service either. We had to go into the store after to change the colour of something and it was no bother.

That being said, I've never heard a bad thing about Debenhams either. I just went with JL because we prefer their shops and products and theres one nearer to us.

I have heard that Debenhams charge for delivery on each item, so every guest has to pay for the item plus a delivery charge, even though everything comes delivered together. I think they are the only ones that do this.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • I didn't hear great things about Debenhams. We went with John Lewis but I wasn't particularly happy with their service.

The good thing about Debenhams is they have decent sale prices on their stock some times, meaning if your guests time it right they could get a lot more for their money.

For example, I've seen half price Denby in Debenhams, but never in John Lewis.
  • We went with JL too, and were pretty happy with them.
They even pricematched items that Debenhams had on sale, so some of our guests got good bargains.
Had a little blip with deliveries, a couple of items weren't in the main delivery & when we went to collect from store, they didn't have them, but they've sorted it out & given extra gift vouchers as compensation. :)
