Oh dear! This poll result doesn't say much for MSEr's who vote.
I agree with previous poster, none of the above should have been an option.
I can only hope those voting for Maggie are not old enough to have experienced first hand her Government.

P.S am not a leftie, just have some understanding of what the first "alpha female" did for Britain0 -
The last person we need would be Mrs T. It was her stupid policy of privatisation which has brought about the current problems. Selling off assets simply to lower taxes for the rich always was a recipe for disaster. It got the country into the habit of living beyond its means, and that is the problem which is now facing those countries that followed her fatally flawed lead. It was a quick fix to raise money easily, but with no thought to the long term consequences. Harold Macmillan likened the policy to selling off the family silver and, unfortunately, it is a policy which has been followed by all British governments since so that we can no longer afford the basics of life, like free health or education.0

There was a previous MSE poll a while back which asked "which newspaper do you read?"
As I recall the answer with by far the most votes was The Daily Fail.
Which explains a lot about why people are voting how they are in this current poll."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Thatcher??? I'm afraid Thatcher has a lot to answer for as she alone wiped out the whole industrial belt which this country depended on, especially in areas in Scotland, Wales and NE England. Privatising everything she could think of was not the answer and we are all paying for that now. We're actually now more or less a "service" nation producing hee-haw and it's all thanks to her. I agree that an option of "None of the above" would have been more appropriate, but the numpties who voted for Thatcher have short memories, or have yet to remove the blue glasses!!0

None of the above. Clem Attlee is the man we need at the moment. The man who led the building of the welfare state in times of austerity and deficits higher than now, instead of the Tory Lib Dem destruction of the welfare state.0

I'm going for the Monty Brewster approach and voting for "None of the Above!"0

Glad to know there are so many folk reading this forum who know what Margaret Thatcher really did for this country - it really was the good times and the ignorant of today should check the history before quoting the sad, spiteful types who have got us into the mess we are in today. Margaret Thatcher encouraged people to work and stand on their own two feet - many of us were brought up the same way - hopefully those times will return soon. Bring back the work and save up culture - it is the only answer.0

Oh Cariann........I think it is you who needs to look in to the history of the Thatcher years and what it really did do to the country. Boom and bust times so if you were one of the lucky yuppies than it was a bed of roses, but if you just happened to be working class then you were well and truly shafted. Thatcher's legacy has blighted this country ever since and no government has yet been able to get us out of the hole she well and truly dug for the majority of the British people. I suspect you probably also think the current ConDem alliance is the bees knees and David walks on water!!0

I can't believe that Gordon Brown got more than Harold McMillan. Even Anthony Eden & Alec Douglas Hulme were better than Brown! The best Prime Minister of the post war era was Clement Atlee. That's not opinion, just read the history books.0
