Nectar savers club

Hiya
I had an email from Nectar today about this new savers club: http://www.nectar.com/contents/html/saverclub/landing.htm
Basically, by joining it, you agree not to use any points between April and November 2007 and in return, members of the club will get extra bonus points and entries in prize draws.
Sounds good if you are getting decent offers, but the cynical side of me wonders why? Obviously they are going to guarantee themselves that a subset of members can't use their points for those months but not sure what is in it for Nectar (have my cynical MSE hat on).
Can anyone shed any light? Is it a good idea to join? I was planning to save my Nectar points for xmas gifts anyway.
Thanks

Not wanting to hijack this thread but more as an FYI, I cashed in 5000 Nectar points for 2 massages at Cannons. When you call to make the appointment, they say that as you are using Nectar vouchers you can't go on weekends or evenings (so basically, only the normal working day).
I don't see any mention of this on the Nectar or Cannon website so before you all go thinking you can go for nice massages of a weekend or after work, forget it...unless you work shifts LOL0 -
Last summer - july/ august time they did some good deals with nectar points - reducing the amount of nectar points required to get cd's, giving you better value redemption value for adams etc.. so I wonder whether they have similar offers planned for this summer? and if so, if they've tied you into the savers club will ensure that you don't take up these offers, but have to wait until the offers have gone back to their usual levels..0

Thanks OP - was wondering about this myself
I think I'd want to know a bit more about these supposed 'bonus points and exclusive offers' before I committed my points - like you say, 'what's the catch'.
I don't get many, as we really only collect at Sainsburys (Quidco generally beating nectar for any online shopping), but it's useful every so often to knock a few pounds off the shopping, or get some school uniform cheap.
This scheme will be no good if once you can spend your points there are any new T&C attached (such as a specific time period, 'use it or loose it' type of scenario, or minimum spend/redemption)

I figured I might as well sign up for it, as it does say you can opt out at any time & all you'll lose is any bonus points earnt.0 -
Nectar has just taken away one good perk. A £2.50 voucher has bought £5 worth of childrens clothes in Adams. However now only £3. So only a gain of 50p. As there clothes tend to me expensive anyway its not really worth getting Adams vouchers anymore0

so do you think we should go for it, it looks like we really don't have anything to lose.0

"Nectar Accounts linked to the Nectar Saver Club will not receive rewards communications from Loyalty Management UK Limited or participating companies between 1 April 2007 and 30 November 2007. "
So I guess that means you won't get any statements in that period (and attached bonus coupons)0 -
