I just paid about £11k for a 3.75 Kwh system from Tesco about 6 weeks ago.

I got an email from them last night quoting "We have reduced the cost of a 3.84kWp system to a new price of only £8,499 (inc. VAT)"

Clealry they are reacting to the FiT payment drop.

If anyone wants the full email, I'd be happt to oblige but it llooks a pretty good deal.

Just found ref to the £8499 here ...

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but it is the day your installation is registered for FITS with an electricity supplier that is the crucial date.

Your installation will need to be completed by the 4/5th of December to allow for your application to be processed.

£15k is about 20% higher than it ought to be, but even then, you will be cutting it very fine to get it all done and your installation registered with a FIT supplier by the cutoff. (Good Energy accept FIT applications by email which might speed things up)

My 4kW system was £12.25k in April 2011. I'm amazed that prices have fallen so quickly - If Tesco is offering a near 4kW system for £8.5k (post-FIT change), others will soon follow, although getting the system in at the old FIT rates for £12k would probably give a higher percentage return.

If you can get it down to £12k, with a guaranteed installation and MCS certificate delivery by, say, 2nd December, with an agreed 40% discount for failing to comply; it could be worth it, but it's probably easier to leave it at this stage.
