Stansted Airport area: Taxis

Hey MSE’s,
Something that I was not aware actually existed has come to my attention with regard to moneysaving, and was certainly not around in my time on the taxis, which was until 2008.
There has been an upspring of licensed drivers starting airport transfer companies. Whilst it’s not uncommon for West End to run at £120 with local companies, I managed to get a ride for just £75 using a local independent. Licensing changes with BAA allow this, where they didn’t a few years ago!
I know that there are several companies offering this service, however the mobile number that was placed into my hand was 07785540866, a guy called Simon that was licensed in the Stansted Airport district (Uttlesford, plate 60). This is so much cheaper than anyone I could find in East Herts, and if it’s pre-booked, they can (apparently) pick up where they like.
Another one that I’ve had a card for is Tim’s Taxis, a family-run firm consisting of 3 cars and 3 drivers. They are also Uttlesford plated. It’s worth realising that with the likes of Checker Cars, London can go to £150-160 without a problem. Walk to the Orange car park and save a fortune!
Simon offers taxis to and from the Stansted Airport district, and says he offers his prices through having no radio rent to pay. He runs a ’57’ plate car, licensed for 4.
