  • I think I'm in the middle. I don't subscribe to your somewhat over optimistic view but neither do I think we're in for a long slog. We do have to rebuild the economy on not quite so much debt, those of us long in the tooth could see the folly of so much credit sloshing around in the system & G. Brown & Co could only see the political advantage of such debt in the short term. Then few politicos look beyond the next election. If the unwashed great British public took more notice of what their politicians do & *vote* then we might not be in such an awful pickle.
    Debt free people like me get very little satisfaction from this because we too have been sold down the river. Just when all the years of being careful, not taking on too much debt, battling through two recessions & four lots of redundancy, are beginning to pay off these fools (the Bush & Blair admins plus others) play stupid games & allow financial institutions carte blanche to mess it all up!
