Hi all
My hair desperately needs a colour but I am totally broke so I was wondering what cheaper brands of hair colours you can recommend please? I'm looking for a dark warm brown permanent colour for as little as possible!
Thanks!
Hx

Hello, I've tried quite a few cheap hair dyes and I would say if you're really broke, poundland hair dyes are ok, they work well and the depth of colour is there, plus they do a dark brown. You don't get any conditioner with them and they do smell quite strongly of chemicals though, but if you're not too bothered about this they are the cheapest.
Otherwise, if you want to spend a little more and have a much wider range of colours/better quality dye, I would recommend Aldi hair colour, it's what I regularly use and it costs £2.39, they do quite a few colours and I've found that the colour representation on the box is very accurate (not like some when all the colours darker than light brown come out black!)
I use natural dark brown I think its called which is a nice rich colour, however the dye itself for this colour is bright orange when you put it on, but don't let that put you off, it doesn't stay that colour!
You do get conditioner with this one, the only negative is the gloves are really crap, very thin and small, they are just about usable but you can get packs of latex gloves in poundland which are much better if you dye your hair regularly.Started Comping 25th September 2013.

schwarzkopf poly color tint ( permanent).
£2 in morrisons and other places. Red box. I use it all the time. Was on offer at 2 for £3.00 a couple of months back so keep eyes open. HTH xCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

I've just last week used a box of Superdrugs own line and found it was amazing! Not even with L'Oreal Ferea have I had such a vibrant colour! It is £4 or 2 boxes for £7 and well worth it, the only issue I have is that after a week (7 washes) it is still bleeding on my pillow and on towels! But thats probably the colour I chose (red) rather then anything else.0

Some good suggestions here:) I feel my hair needs a change from its usual colour (nice n easy) can anyone tell me what the grey coverage is like from any of the colours mentioned?Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I've used a purple from Superdrug before but didn't find it lasted very long before fading, but as someone else said that could be the colour itself. I can't get to an aldi very easily but I might persude the OH to take a trip this weekend
thanks!

I use superdrug own brand too...its great. I only use semi permanent as I used to be blonde so I am sticking to no chemicals for a while, but the coverage is great and it leaves my hair really soft and shiny. xLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea
