Quick question about Local Authority pay

I am applying for a part-time job in a school its only 2 afternoons and I am trying to work out if it would be under, the amount I would be allowed to earn on IB ... its under 16hrs ...as the job is Term Time only would the pay be worked out over 52 wks or would I literally get paid for the weeks worked...

This makes the difference between me being able to take the job or not as I need to be able to still claim my IB....

thanks

some places average term time pay, some places don't, some places let you choose.

best to give them a ring and ask if they have a standard policy or if you can choose.

I think most LAs just pay for the weeks worked though.

  • DWP would average it out over 52 week period.......quote from DWP website...

work for less than 16 hours a week, on average, with earnings up to and including £81.00 a week (from 1 October 2005) for a 52 week period. This is called Permitted Work Higher Limit(PWHL).

I did look at the DWP site thanks for the quote... but this seems to mean also that I can only do this work for 52 weeks and there must be a gap of 52 weeks before I could do anymore work . It also says this :-
    or

work for less than 16 hours a week on average and earn up to £81.00 a week for as long as your illness or disability is considered sufficiently severe that you are treated as meeting the threshold of incapacity without undergoing a medical assessment.

How would I find out if they consider my disabilty sufficiently severe to qualify under these rules....?

I would not be earning anything near £81 if my term-time pay is averaged over 52 weeks
