MSE News: Amazon offers locker delivery service

I'm fortunate enough now to be able to get parcels delivered to me at work (as long as it's not the size of a sofa!), but I used to get deliveries sent to me c/o of my local friendly corner shopkeeper. He was more than happy to take in deliveries as people tended up do some shopping when they popped in to collect their parcels.0

Maplin did a similar thing a few years ago, called "CollectPoint" - they sent your parcel to a branch of certain retailers or BP petrol stations, and you went to collect your package from there when convenient for you.
It was a great idea, but the staff in the shop invariably didn't know what on earth I was talking about when I went to collect my parcel, and generally (after much frowning and scratching of heads) disappeared for several minutes and then came back with my parcel, and handed it over with no security checks. Not really the idea!0 -
As I understand it, most of these locker locations are only open during normal shopping hours. I often finish work well after all the shops have closed. This would have been a good idea if the lockers were available 24x7.0
