Is it a bad idea to purchase from a shop that's going out of business?

I just ordered a TV from Best Buy online over the weekend, and found out today the stores are closing. I'm concerned that if it's faulty I'll have trouble making a return. There's still time to cancel -- should I?

If you bought online then you are covered by the Distance Selling Regulations which means that most items can be returned if you change your mind.
Reading the news stories, I can't find anything to indicate that the online operation is to close.0 -
An article in yesterday's Sunday Times indicated that Best Buy will continue, on a smaller scale, by operating through some re-vamped Carphone Warehouse stores.0

I saw that, but that doesn't necessarily mean that these stores will take on the responsibility to replace faulty goods bought at the current Best Buy.

Depending on the tv manufacturer I believe most warranties are with them anyway so if you had a fault you could send it directly back to sony, samsung etc..
Unless it is a refurbished model and in that case you may not be covered0 -
Who knows what the future hols for other retailers but, if I could get it similar price elsewhere, I wouldn't buy from a company I knew was closing.0

I think you'd probably be okay if it broke because the manufacturer should have some sort of warranty, usually a year I think.
Also, just spotted this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/company-administration-help on this very websiote, so it may be a helpful read.0
