Petrol prices hit lowest since February

I read the article as a the average family is now worse off by £15 a week based on all items, not just petrol. Makes more sense to me if that is the case.0

I did a search for old threads on here.
A thread about fuel prices a couple of years ago mentions a prediction that £1.10 a litre would be reached in the near future.
It contained quoted comments and references to previous peak prices, of about £1.20 a litre for petrol and £1.30 a litre for diesel, and a peak price of oil of $147 a barrel.
The barrel price is about three-quarters of that now, and the retail price of fuel is higher.0 -
$147 / 2 = £73.50The barrel price is about three-quarters of that now, and the retail price of fuel is higher.
$112 / 1.6 = £70
So in reality not much in the barrel price, but Tax and costs have gone up.
the barrel price is a bit of a red herring if you don't convert it in the exchange prices at the time.
Peaked at around £1.28 in 2008 for diesel, current diesel is around £1.39. (But most likely about £1.37 next report)0 -
Don't the AA claim insurance costs are up 20% year on year?
Mine went from around £850 per year to just under £1300 per year.
Some of my workmates got stung more than me.
This will probably be the last time i pay it and then im trading my van in for a mountain bike and trying for a job in a local factory or supermarket.0
