scam??

got this in the post:-

dear raarararaa

do you recall filling in and mailing an entry coupon for a competition prize promotion or special offer? as a result the promoter has selected your name for us. i am pleased to confirm that you are now eligiable to recieve an award.

you have been allocated one of hte following awards:-
a cheque for 20,000, a panasonic 42" plasma tv etc etc etc

then says your personal allocation code is rararara your code allocated to you on the 23rd jan 2007 we want you to recieve your cash, cheque etc etc asap call 09061564095

sure i have seen this before is it a con? the calls cost a fortune!

    Don't do it. It's probably one of those where your 'prize' will be worth less than the price of the phone calls.

    Defintely a scam. No reputable organisation would get you to phone a premium rate line to claim a prize you've allegedly, already won.

  • Looks like a scam - if it were real, they'd at least be able to tell you what competition / prize draw you'd entered. Well, I remember entering loads of competitions. :rotfl: Not only scamming, but lazy scamming too, I reckon.
  • lol cheers for the replies i just like to make sure thats all! i think i realised it was yet another waste of paper/trees when i saw the cost of the call and when i realised er no i never actually mailed any comp i do them all online :) gone to the recycle bin i think i like confirmation i have not just chucked in the bin something good lol :)

    Made sense to me! :) It may be safer to shred it if it's got your details on it.
