Hi
We have just had an autumn fair and asked the children to make a jam jar of fun which were then used for a children's tombola.
The jars of fun contained wrapped sweets, small water pistols, balloons, yoyos, stickers etc
They proved a great success with children and parents.
Will it be possible to have a non uniform day and children bring a bottle as payment -this is usually hilarious as bottles vary considerably! The bottles may be used on a bottle tombola-charge a pound and every entrant is a winner.

Hiya,
I've been on my kids PTA for 6 years so have seen my fair share of fetes and bazaars. The key is to do things which cost you very little in terms of time and money to produce but which keep the kids happy. Some of the things we have done in the past are;
Chocolate Tombolo - we hold a non-uniform day in return for a donation of chocolate. Donations range from a penguin bar to advent calendars etc. Cheap cloak room ticket book to ticket them with. We have odds of 1 in 5 so every ticket ending in either a 5 or a 0 wins. We charge 30p a ticket or 5 for £1.
Bottle Tombola - rather than a non-uniform day we simplay ask for donations. A cheeky but funny note asking for the old bottle of cooking wine thats been in the cupboard etc. We had things ranging from shampoo to port/wine etc. Anything in a bottle is accepted and part of the fun is watching the adults spend heaps trying to win the prized bottle of alcohol but getting ketchup etc. Odds and prices same as choccy tombola.
Santas Sack - we have a large board covered in wrapping paper which is then marked up in grids. Letters along the top and numbers down the side. Before the day starts you choose a square to hold santas sack, write this on a piece of paper, put it in an envelope and tape it to the back of the board. People pay 50p to buy a square .eg.A1 and you write their names and choices on a piece of paper and cross off the squares as they are bought. At the end of the day open the envelope and the closest to the named square wins. Prize can be anything, in the past we have had soft toys, taken a bottle from the donations made or even given a cash prize depending on how many squares are sold.
Cookie decoration - one for the kiddies. Supermarket value brand rich teas, icing sugar mixed with water and a drop of food colouring and a few jelly tots or dolly mix. 20p a biscuit. This is always really popular amongst the young ones. Doesnt make a massive amount of money but keeps them there longer so hopefully mum and dad spend on other things while kids are busy!
Bauble decoration - same price as cookies depending on how cheap you get your baubles. One bauble per child with a selection of xmas themed stickers for them to choose from.
Salt Dough Decorations - hugely popular at ours. Simply make up a batch of salt dough. Each child gets to make a few xmas shaped decorations which go onto a named piece of cardboard to dry out. We collect cereal packts and cut them up for that. 50p a go.
Sweets in the jar - an oldie but a goodie. Fill with lollipops etc and charge 20p a go. Winner gets the sweets. Kids love the idea of winning and will guess many times.
Mince Pies and mulled wine - You dont need to have a liquor license for this as long as you sell the mince pie and give away a small cupof mulled wine with it. We sell our mince pies at £2.50 and if you look out for a good deal on the wine (supermarket own is fine) you can make a decent profit on these.
Santas Grotto - We decorate the corner of a classroom with xmas tree etc and charge £2.50. Each child gets to see santa and have a chat with the big man, when they leave they get a gift. We normally get the xmas selection boxes cheap and wrap those up - kids are normally chuffed.
Thats all I can think of for now, will add more when I remeber them.
Good Luck,
