Are you absolutely sure you are not talking about Santander dividends, that you now get from those Abbey shares, you got when Abbey was the first building society to demutulalise?
Santander "rescued" Abbey National and Alliance and Leicester, from the great British banking crisis, and so found itself with thousands of small shareholders.
They get pretty unintelligible quarterly payments, subject to pretty unintelligible Spanish with holding tax (or not) as the case may be.0 -
No, I have a current account and an esaver account. One of these generated the grand total of £0.10p in interest!
I can see why you ask though. Daft isn't it?0 -
'major accountancy firm' - if this is really the case then probably he just made a simple error and is not going to admit it for the sake of 10p. However, if it's a national chain and you think that makes it a 'major accountancy firm' be very careful. A couple of these chains that I know of are just franchises, and they don't require the person who buys them to have an accounting background at all.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -

However, if it's a national chain and you think that makes it a 'major accountancy firm' be very careful. A couple of these chains that I know of are just franchises, and they don't require the person who buys them to be a qualified accountant. For example 'Tax Assist' in their franchise info say 'Whilst a background in accountancy is desirable, the main attribute we look for is the determination to develop a successful business.'Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
