Maybe a mod might read this and respond because there seems to be some confusion on this board.
I have read the rules and fully agree that no advertising is the rule here. So it should be. But when responding to posters who are looking for a way to up their income, it surely must be ok to mention the name of a company that might fit their needs, as long as a link isn't provided or an invite to pm that poster? Am I right in this regard, as there are a few posters I've noticed in my short time on here who only spend their time as ''unofficial policemen'', waiting to jump on anyone who mentions a company name?
Can a mod shed some light on this please?
Pat

The site does not have mods it polices itself with the help of members and board guides.
Have a good read of the rules.

Why is the forum not moderated?
There are thousands of posts made on the forum every day, it would be impossible for someone to read them all. Also, if we were to read and approve every post we would be legally responsible for the information in those posts.
We want to protect our users as much as we can, therefore we have a 'report-a-post' system (see How do I report an inappropriate post?). Only after going through this process are posts legally deemed as being published by the site."
Of course you can mention a name as long as you dont publish a personal domain / affiliate link etc and dont invite PM,s.People only get jumped if they are spamming or continually promoting the same biz.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I read the rules and believed I was following them. I declared the company I was with in one of my early posts, so I was being upfront and honest; I never posted a link of any kind concerning my business; I never asked anyone to pm me, but still I have a couple of posters inferring that I'm spamming. Thats why I asked for clarity.
Hopefully, now that its obvious I'm breaking no rules, we can all move on.
Thanks
