Had to attend 3 hour induction (reading and signing documents including contract, watching dvds etc) for job. Should I expect to get paid?
Thanks.

yes or no depending on the employer. Most inductions i've had to sit through have been on my first working day so i've been paid for them,0

Yes - if you were required to attend and unless there was an express agreement that you attend on an unpaid basis. Even then the NMW still applies as an average over the course of your pay period.0 -
Why would you not get paid; it's a work thing so you should be paid for attending. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

Thanks all. The contract says I started working for them as of date of induction and never thought I wouldn't until friend said she didn't for hers!

firms can get away with not paying for parts of an induction if they are claiming that it's part of the interview process.
Did the 3 hour induction occur on the same day that you were offered the job?0 -

No separate and contract signed at induction had date of induction as start date of employment.

So, have you actually asked your employer whether you will be paid, or have you not been paid?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
