Council Tax

I'm not sure this is the right thread for this but....
I had a letter yesterday from a company advising me that recently one or more of my neighbours had been revised to a lower band, thus meaning I may have a claim myself. I would never consider using a company like this anyway (especially as they want 25% of any payback)!! However, I've checked the VOA tool on here and everyone is still the same.
My question is, where did they get the information that my neighbours council tax has changed? Or is it just a scam??
Thanks

It could be true as my neighbours and I got the same but dont get your hopes up. Dont use the company, just go to the local council and ask them. It is rare there is a mistake with the valuation though. In our case most of the houses in the small road are semi detached, but on one side there is a block of three meaning that one is terraced not semi. This was the house that was paying less and that was because it is smaller and does not have a garage.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220 -
Avoid this company, in my opinion... if you believe you are in an incorrect band speak to your council about it directly... I believe Martin actually offers advice on this money saving tip on the main site somewhere actually so might be worth browsing around a bit....0

I reclaimed money back after finding out I was in a higher band than my neighbour. I did it directly though the council and it was easy as A B .
Definitely worth everyone looking into
