Decent, not too expensive toaster?

We are about to chuck out our Tefal Avante toaster. It toasts very unevenly and won't take thick or longer slices of bread. Can anyone recommend a good toaster which will be better than what we have?

I have heard that Dualit toasters are very good but at the price they are I'd need to be convinced about their performance and whether they last.

Click here for the toaster I bought.

It's a Which? 'Best Buy'. At the current price, it's a genuine bargain.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out Which next time I'm at the library (I don't subscribe) . I'm not in ASDA often as I don't live near one.

I have a dualit 4 slice that is fantastic. However it is old, from before the time they became household toasters. I do wonder if the modern ones are as good.
I have had it over 10 years and bought it for £1 at a jumble sale!

After just 21 months our dualit toaster stopped working. I wrote to Dualit whose customer service manager Matthew Shelley told me:
    - "it is unlikely that we would be able to repair the toaster due to the nature of its construction"
    - "I can offer you a 40% discount on the price of a replacement , if purchased direct from Dualit".
This toaster replaced a Rowenta model which was 18 years old, Since mentioing this my relative has said she bought a dualit kettle and toaster and has now changed them in less than 3 years. STEER CLEAR!!
I personally would NEVER EVER BUY DUALIT FOR ANYTHING.

We've had a Dualit toaster for quite a few years and we think it's rubbish. Never toasts evenly. We have a Tesco value one for our camper van & it's much better at toasting! The only reason we still have the Dualit is it looks nice in my kitchen:o and I can't bring myself to get of it whilst it still works.

Also briefly had a Dualit Kettle, again rubbish and it only lasted a couple of years.
